It is great that we are passionate about our products, our cause etc. and it is even better that we are going to create a business around our passion. When one is passionate about what he or she is doing, it is also easy to forget about the business side of the business: Money and Market.

On the money side, I would use the following three strategies:

1) Try to look for a parner or the bank to lend your money. The purpose is that they will ask you questions, and you will learn how to reduce risk, put the miminum investment and pay attention to your rate of return.

2) I would also work with vendors to work seemlessly rather than buying inventory from them.

3) Last but not least, I would also focus on generating income first then use the money to perpect the areas of your business.

On the market side,

1) Look at the price of competitve products including alternative products in the similar category. For example, if you are selling reusable diapers, are their price similar as disposable ones?

2) List 5 marketing strategies, narrow down to 3 based on your personal stregths, schedule, budget, and the cost/benefit comparison. Then choose one strategy first, do it for a while, be good at it. Then start the next strategy. repeat, and eventually you may have 3 strategies working together.

3) Put money and energy in marketing before anything else. Use the money you generate to improve your service and incorporate your business etc. It is the most efficient way of using your time and money. That said, if you want to have a business, it is best to find someone who already have a similar business and work for them for a while before you start your own business, or talk to people who had a business, whether failed or successful.

Passion is really service from your heart. It is soooo important because it has to do with one’s purpose for life and one’s happiness. Our happiness comes from what we give and serve, and it has to be from inside out, from the sweet spot, where all our gifts are eagerly longing for flowing out just like the flowers must naturallly give out their fragrance. To furthur stress the importance of following one’s passion, I would love to share this Islamic essay a life coach, Robert Elliott (his contact is at the bottom) shared with me:

The One Thing You Must Do

There is one thing in this world

that you must never forget to do.

If you forget everything else and not this,

there is nothing to worry about.

But if you remember everything else and forget this,

then you will have done nothing with your life.

It’s as if a king has sent you to some country to do a task

and you perform a hundred other services but not the one

he has sent you to do.

So human beings come to this world to do particular work.

That work is the purpose and each is specific to the person.

If you don’t do it, it is as though a priceless Indian sword were

used to slice rotten meat;

as if a golden bowl was being used to cook turnips when one filing from that bowl could buy a hundred suitable pots;

it’s as if a knife of the finest tempering was nailed into a wall

to hang things on.

You might say: “But look: I’m using the dagger. It’s not lying idle.”

Do you hear how ludicrous that sounds to the inner ear of the soul?

For a penny an iron nail could be bought to serve for that.

You say: “But I spend my energy on lofty enterprises. I study peace,

philosophy, mysticism, logic, astronomy, medicine, natural healing and all the rest.

But consider why you do those things: They are all branches of

your hidden Self.

So remember the deep root of your being, the presence of the Lord within.

Give yourself to the one who already owns your breathe and all of

your moments.

If you don’t, you will be like the man who takes a precious dagger and hammers it into his kitchen wall for a peg to hold his dipping

gourd.

You’ll be wasting all of that valuable keenness and you’ll be forgetting your dignity and purpose in this life.

To get started, just write down all the passions and strength you have. What ever you love to do, who ever you love to be around, what you enjoy etc. Now when I write down these, I hear my mind saying:”it does not matter, everybody has this strength. ” Let the mind say so, acknowlege that, and move on. So here are what I write down for me:

I love swimming in the ocean,

I love outdoors,

I love to be enthusiatic and passionate and fully alive and love to be around with this kind of people.

I love to talk and listen and love be be around this kind of environment.

I love when people love what they do.

I am so happy when I see people happy.

I love to play with kids, they are so present and so fun!

I love to contribute my part in world peace, green earth etc.

I enjoy meeting new people.

I enjoy taking challenges.

I enjoy communication.

So you get the idea! Now you know why I become a coach, trainer and consultant and l love doing it every minutes. I love to spend time with people and family. I love reading. I love to be financially free through ethical, passionate, and intelligent business and investing. So I study economics, finance, business and leadership. I learn by sharing and listening. I do it for fun.

When you write, don’t think. Just follow your heart!
